Rev. Dr. Sami Said Girgis 1938 - 2005
“When the days of his priestly service were ended, he went home” Luke 1 : 23
It is with sorrow and feeling of great loss, that we inform you of the departure of our beloved pastor, who served God as the first pastor of this church for some 30 years, before he retired in 2003. After a mere two weeks of sickness, he went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 27, 2005.
Rev. Sami received his degree from the Presbyterian Seminary in Egypt and served God there for some years. He later immigrated to the USA in 1973, with his wife Isabel, and their son Sami. While serving the church, Rev. Sami pursued his studies in the US and got his PhD in Theology. He was one of the first founders of the Middle Eastern Caucus, and one of the pioneers who provided services and care to new immigrants.
Rev. Sami was known for his dedication, for prayer life and for diligent service to the new immigrants. His care for those in hardship was a passion. Please pray for his family, his friends and this church that will miss him greatly, so that the peace of the Lord that passes understanding will minister to us all
